Night Skies
I have always been fascinated by the night sky. This interest was kindled in high school, when I had a class that was half the year photography and half the year astronomy. As you can see, I have pursued an interest in both! Enjoy my images of the Milky Way, eclipses and even some deep space objects. Click here to view the images.

Eagles
Being in the presence of Bald Eagles is always memorable. I have enjoyed seeing eagles from Alaska to Florida. Most of my eagle images have been made on tours I have led in Washington and Alaska where we spend days getting close to and observing these magnificent creatures. Click here to view the images.

American River Scenics
I moved nearby the American River in 2013. Since that time, I have taken more pictures of the river and its wildlife than anything else. My scenic images are mostly compromised of two areas on the river, Effie Yeaw Nature Center, about four miles from my home, and the immediate are within a half mile of my home. Enjoy my “backyard.” Click here to view the images.

American River Birds
I have been kayaking on the American River since 2013. The kayak has allowed me to get closer to the wildlife, and to experience how the animals live in and around the river. Being at eye level to daily lives of the birds that live here year-round and those that are seasonal has really given me appreciation of how vital it is to keep healthy water ways intact for the benefit of wildlife. I have witnessed many amazing things on the river and have learned a lot about my avian friends. I hope you enjoy the images! Click here to view the images.

Yosemite
In 1978 I was two years out of college and traveling the country in a Dodge van. I was running out of money and landed in Yosemite National Park where I got a job as a dishwasher at the Ahwahnee Hotel. My father told his friends “Lewis is in California into ceramics.” After washing dishes for about 8 weeks, I learned there was an opening at The Ansel Adams Gallery and I applied for the job. As they say, “the rest is history.”
I lived in Yosemite National Park, California for 11 years. Some of these images are from that time, others are more recent. Click here to view the images.

Lake Clark National Park Bears
I have led photo tours to Lake Clark National Park in Alaska for over 10 years. Every year brings something different. I never get tired of going back. It is a most unique area where you can be very close to the bears and still feel safe. It is a feeling you can’t describe, but I love watching my clients as they adapt to the presence of the bears. The looks of concern slowly evaporate away and are replaced by joy and awe. I have seen many types of behaviors over the years and I hope you enjoy seeing some here. Click here to view the images.
