Expanding your creativity
Monterey Bay Peninsula, CA
May 19 – 22, 2017
“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.”, Scott Adams
Spend a long weekend on the Monterey Bay Peninsula, staying at the historic Asilomar State Beach and Conference Grounds, with Lewis Kemper, as we work on creative techniques to take your photography to the next level. Lewis will talk about night photography, long exposure photography, HDR, panoramas, creative composition and the use of color in your images.
Beginning on Friday afternoon we will have a presentation on night photography covering subjects such as equipment, how to properly white balance, the use of HDR to capture the full range of the scene, zooming for effect, shooting stars, cityscapes and more. Then after the program we will either walk out to the beach to photograph the night sky or go to the Monterey Harbor to practice what we learned.
Saturday will be spent with a sunrise session at Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf; a presentation “Into the Eye of the Sun; Realistic HDR Images”; followed by processing time with assistance from Lewis and a sunset session at Pacific Grove. And for those adventurous enough, after dark we can venture down to the beach for more photography.
Sunday morning we once again go out for a sunrise session, location based on the weather. Followed by a presentation “Using the Local Adjustment Tools to take your images from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary”; processing time with assistance from Lewis and/or a visit to the Monterey Aquarium; and a scenic sunset session at one of the local beaches.
Monday morning will be our last sunrise field session, followed by critique/review of any work you want to share. The program ends at noon.
Class limited to 8 participants.
