An American River Adventure

An American River Adventure
January 10, 2015
Join Lewis Kemper in a sunrise/morning photo excursion on the shore of the American River. We will be photographing in Effie Yeaw Nature Center, located in Carmichael, CA. The nature center consists of 88 acres of protected land adjacent to the American River. The nature center is home to deer, turkey, and variety of waterfowl, raptors and songbirds.
In winter there is a high probability of a foggy, atmospheric sunrise along the bank of the river. The backlit scene offers many great photographic opportunities of both landscape and of the wildlife on the water. Following sunrise, we will hike some of the trails in the area searching for wildlife and dramatic landscape images.

Lewis will guide you to the best locations and be there to help you with exposure, composition and any technical questions you have. We will follow up with an online posting of images accompanied by a critique of those images by Lewis.
We will meet in the parking lot of the Effie Yeaw Natue Center at 6:45 AM, gather ourselves, and our equipment and then walk about 10 minutes to the first location. Remember it will be cold in the morning, around freezing temperatures, so dress accordingly. Sunrise will be 7:23 AM and we will spend approximately another 2 hours after that photographing in the area. Afterwards we can all go to a local Starbucks to warm up and talk photography!
The cost of the class is $175 and includes a free download of Lewis’ “Light. Color and Composition” presentation, the morning shoot and the follow up critique. The class is limited to 6.
Since the weather is unpredictable this time of year I would like to schedule January 17th as a backup date. We would cancel by Wednesday January 7th so that you can get refunds on any lodging accommodations  you have made.
I recommend:
1530 Howe Ave, Sacramento, CA 95825_?(916) 920-9111
It is approximately 6 miles and 15 minutes away from the nature center.
